Terms and Conditions

  1. It is an absolute requirement that the school’s insurance policy covers students to participate in LXI programs. Where students undertake a Voluntary Work Placement the insurance policy MUST cover them as a volunteer in a workplace - basic travel insurance is not sufficient. Please note that students are unlikely to be covered by the insurance of the work placement company.
  2. It is the direct responsibility of the school and teacher(s) to ensure insurance policies are valid. LXI does not translate or validate insurance policies.
  3. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that all students upload a copy of the correct, valid insurance policy onto their database account for viewing by work placement companies. Teachers are also responsible for ensuring that students bring a copy of the insurance policy on the first day of their work placement.
  4. LXI also requires every student to arrange private health/travel insurance to cover any unforeseen medical expenses during your stay in Ireland. It is essential to bring a copy of each student’s insurance policy and a European Health Insurance Card (formally known as E111). This card provides FREE access to a doctor, hospital and some dental services.
  5. Foreseeable immigration/visa issues and preventable disciplinary issues (such as alcohol or drug abuse, public disorder, violence, illegal behaviour, incidents requiring police involvement) will require LXI staff involvement outside of the standard level of support provided as part of all of our programs. In order to ensure that issues are addressed appropriately, where such foreseeable or preventable issues arise, it is mandatory that LXI staff manage and resolve the situation. This assistance is provided by LXI at an additional cost of €25 per hour and is a condition of participation in any LXI program. This is payable by the school, agent or travel agent who made the initial booking.
  6. Where a student is under the age of 18, it is the responsibility of the teacher to ensure parental consent has been obtained for participation in all aspects of the LXI program and to ensure the parent/guardian has read and agreed to the Student Terms and Conditions on this database.
  7. Schools and teachers agree not to directly approach or accept direct contact from LXI clients or contacts for the purpose of by-passing LXI to establish or participate in future language programs. Directly contacting or accepting contact from LXI clients or contacts directly will result in the school being excluded from any further LXI programs.
  8. Teachers agree not to directly approach or accept direct contact from LXI clients, companies, host families or contacts without the expressed permission of LXI head office or an area manager.
  9. The data relating to the host families, companies, LXI correspondence & FAQs on this system is the property of Language Xchange Ireland, and may not be shared with other companies, schools, travel agents or teachers.  LXI partners in Ireland or the EU are not be contacted directly either now or in the future without the prior written permission of Language Xchange Ireland.  To do so is in breach of Irish & EU data protection law and will be dealt with by our relevant national authority.
  10. LXI reserve the right to remove a student from their Host Family house or Work Placement Company when LXI deem it appropriate or necessary to do so.
